About the Opportunity

The Federation of Massage Therapy Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FOMTRAC) invites Canadian massage therapy professionals to apply for the Competency Profile Project Development Committee.

This volunteer committee will play a central role in designing a modern, evidence-informed Competency Framework for massage therapy—one that reflects today’s practice realities, sets clear professional expectations, and supports professional advancement and growth.

• Contribute to the development of national competency standards
• Ensure the framework reflects the diverse realities of practice across Canada
• Collaborate with colleagues from clinical, educational, research, and leadership settings
• Help build clarity, consistency, and credibility for the profession
• Be part of a nationwide initiative shaping the future of massage therapy

Who Should Apply?

We encourage applications from massage therapist:

• In clinical, education, administration, research and other professional roles
• At different career stages and from all provinces and territories
• Committed to advancing the profession through collaboration and consensus

Participation Details

• Term: Until project completion
• Meetings: Virtual, every month to two months (~2 hours each – advance meeting preparations and between meeting work will be required)
• Commitment: Volunteer, continuing education/competency credits may be recognized by some associations and regulatory agencies.
• Seats Available: Up to 20 initial members (others may be invited to participate as needed)
